Step-by-Step Animal Readiness: Build Your Animal's Evacuation Plan

When an emergency happens, the plans that work are the ones you have already practiced. Nevada County Sheriff's HEART now offers a 90-minute workshop for animal owners who want a plan that holds up under pressure.

Sheriff's Heart believe that pets are family, and everyone in your family deserves a safety plan.

At the end of the workshops attendees will be able to

have learned

How to build an animal emergency plan & at least one safe handling or loading technique for the animals in their household.

How to practice evacuation plans with their animals to make for a safer & calmer evacuation if an emergency happens.

How to build & maintain an animal

go-bag, including knowing what expires & how to make a low budget go-bag that is equipped with all the necessary supplies for a 7-14 day evacuation.

Attendees will be able to

take home

An animal emergency action plan that is unquie to their life & have resources to support their practice of safe evacuation methods that will keep both them & their animal calm in a high urgency situation.

Evacuation tags & signage that they can post onto their doors & property fence lines if an evacuation is ordered.

A registration into our animal emergency system so that they are able to ensure that rescue and shelter teams have the information necessary to provide the best possible care for their animals when it matters most.
